A couple of weeks ago I took advantage of a short break offer at a most beautiful hotel in Kent that was steeped in history…I managed to kill two birds with one stone in that I had a wonderful break and l learned a lot too!
I also came to a momentous decision…for the first time ever I was not going to be cooking Christmas lunch! When we told our family one of the small guests asked me quietly “Will there will be crackers?” I’m thinking about turkey and she was thinking about crackers! I assured her that crackers would be on the table and maybe a small present for her too.
Having sampled the cooking of Head Chef Stephen Clark I made the easy decision that he was going to cook Christmas lunch for me and my family and friends. Stephen, who has cooked for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and for the Embassies of Japan, Russia and Saudi Arabia and incidentally also personally planned and cooked at the wedding of Jools Holland the Jazz musician has an amazing talent for producing the most wonderful food. We knew from our dining experience that Christmas lunch was going to be outstanding.
We found that Christmas lunch is to be served in the Garden restaurant where my husband and I had dinner. You enter the restaurant through the cocktail bar where was sat and had a pre-dinner drink. It was the most beautiful autumn evening and we sat by one of the huge windows and enjoyed the views over the hotel gardens and terrace.
So there you have it…no slaving in the kitchen for me. It will be Carols around a blazing log fire followed by a sumptuous lunch at a wonderful hotel in Bromley.
